Ladies’ Club Events/Activities
Following is a general description of activities. Please refer to the annual Club Tournament Schedule for dates and costs.
The Ladies’ Opening Meeting inMay is a must to attend for members wanting to know what Mountain Woods has to offer. We start the season with fun (a golf scramble starting at 4:30 PM), followed by dinner and the Opening Meeting at which the season’s activities are explained in detail. This is the opportunity to register for Ladies’ League and the President’s Trophy competition, and much more.
Tuesday Ladies’ League: Members may participate in pin rounds which run morning and evening every Tuesday for 10 weeks. Tee times start at 8:30 AM for ladies participating in the 18-hole morning round. Tee times start at 5:30 PM for business ladies participating in the 9-hole evening round. A fee of $15.00 is charged to participate in Ladies’ League activities. A draw for both morning and evening rounds is prepared and e-mailed to members by the Ladies’ Captains on the Sunday/Monday prior to rounds.
What are pin rounds? Pin rounds are played under the rules of stroke play competition. According to the RCGA, competitors must hole out and the score must be attested by fellow competitors. Every Tuesday, players record their gross score, less full handicap (net score) on the official RCGA Pin Round Sheets posted in the locker room. Players must play and post scores for at least 4 of the 10 rounds to qualify for prizes (only the aggregate of the player’s four lowest net pin rounds count). Winners are recognized at the ladies’ closing banquet in September.
Toonie Draw:On Tuesdays and at special events over the season, we have a toonie draw. Members pay $2.00 to enter their name for a chance to win the day’s prize. This prize is donated by a member. $1.00 supports the Ladies’ League, the other supports charity.
Daily Tee Times: On weekdays other than Tuesday, the ladies’ captains schedule 3-4 tee times which are available to ALL lady members (not just those registered in Ladies’ League). This is an opportunity to play a relaxing round of golf with other lady members and we encourage returning and new members to use these tee times. Call the Pro Shop, at least 2 days in advance, to register.
Locker Room Posters: Members are encouraged to record their golf milestones on the posters displayed in the locker room. We have posters to record birdies, eagles, holes-in-one, best holes (ringers), and Tuesday pin round scores, as well as a poster to capture Break 100, 90, and 80 milestones. Prizes are awarded at year-end for various achievements captured on these posters.
TheLadies’ Senior Tour, for lady membersage 50 or better, is your opportunity to play golf (scramble format) every second Monday all season at a different course each time. Please contact Ween Somerville, Senior Tour Coordinator, for further information and registration procedures.
President’s Trophy: This is a match play tournament. Players compete hole by hole. The player who wins the most holes wins the match. Players must have an established handicap (HCP). Lower handicap players must give higher handicap players strokes on the most difficult holes (see score card). The number of strokes to be given is equal to the difference between handicaps. Example: HCP 35 – HCP 22 = 13 strokes.
New Member Night is the official welcome to new members and begins with a 9-hole scramble at 4:30 PM followed by a meal, and an update on league activities.
